From the Classroom to the Frontline Our Salute to the Canadian Armed Forces

On Sunday, June the 6th, citizens from across Canada will pay tribute to our courageous men and women who are dedicated to defending our interest at home and abroad, our Canadian Armed Forces.

Our military is a hugely diverse organization and is made up of the National Defence, Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Air Force, Special Operation Forces Command, and the Defense Research Development Canada.

When you think of the Armed Forces, you probably have visions of a soldier holding an M-16 rifle in combat. Our forces do so much more to help our communities and Canada as a whole; think communications, think logistics, think combat engineering and think medics.   They help in Search and Rescue, they patrol our air space and territorial waters, they support anti-drug operations, and they help our communities in the aftermath of a natural disaster.

Being in the Canadian Armed Forces offers our young men and women the opportunity to learn a wide variety of skill sets, including teamwork, active participation, leadership skills, decision-making, and problem-solving skills that will empower them for a lifetime.  We need to teach our young children that answering the call of duty, serving the people, and protecting our country will always be a privilege to serve.
